INTRODUCTION:
During the fall of 2006 we gathered to
read, discuss and write about short stories. We were a group that
became a community as we heard, analyzed, and then wrote our personal
responses to stories representing struggle and triumph, hopes and
dreams, celebration and lament.
We were eight men who are residents of the Rescue Mission of Trenton and three women from the surrounding suburbs. In the process we discovered the common threads that connect us all. We also discovered the power of literature to enrich and illuminate life. We are delighted to share these reflections.
